The second level WSET Level 2 Award in Wines course takes a deeper look at the different wine regions and the wines produced there. No previous wine studies are required and all wine enthusiasts and people working with wine are welcome to attend.
For many, describing wines and verbalising observations is a challenge. On the WSET course you will learn the vocabulary of wine description and learn how to make logical and understandable wine evaluations. The further you progress in your studies, the more you will learn what these observations mean in wine (production, climate, age, etc.). A wine enthusiast can get much more out of wine with a little study. For those working in wine, now or in the future, this skill is vital.
The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) training courses are internationally renowned and the most prestigious qualifications in the sector. Wine studies give you an important advantage in the job market, show your level of knowledge and prove your motivation to study wine. WSET is the world’s largest wine educator and the WSET diploma is internationally recognised and respected. The language of the course material and the exam is English.

22.9 Wine appreciation, food and wine pairing, red wine production
6.10 White wine, dessert wine and rosé production, white grape varieties.
20.10 Red grape varieties.
3.11 Italian wines, sparkling wines and fortified wines.

Evening classes from 17:30 to 21:00 in a wine cellar in the centre of Helsinki.
The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions with a 1 hour answer time.

The WSET wine qualification can also be taken as an online course. Language for the course in English. An online course may also be a suitable option for those who live further away from Helsinki or Tampere, or if their work allows them to taste a lot of wines.
WSET Level 1 and 2 courses can be done at home, including the multiple choice exam with remote invigilation.

There are no entry requirements for the course, and all wine enthusiasts and those working in the wine industry are welcome to take part. You do not need any prior wine training.

How long does the WSET Level 2 course last?
The WSET Level 2 Advanced Wine Course consists of four evenings of study, plus an exam.

Is a WSET wine qualification useful in the job market?
Studying wine gives you a significant advantage in the job market; it demonstrates your level of knowledge and proves your motivation to learn about wine. WSET is the world’s largest and most respected provider of wine and spirits education. Over 100,000 students sit the exams each year in more than 75 different countries.
What is the final exam for the WSET Level 2 course like?
The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, and you have one hour to complete it. To pass the exam, you need to answer at least 55 per cent of the questions correctly.
What if I don’t pass the exam?
It is possible to retake the WSET Level 2 exam. A resit costs approximately €60.
What other costs are involved in the qualification?
The course fee covers everything! VAT, study materials, the exam and the wines tasted during the course. The only possible additional cost is an exam resit.
How is the course mark calculated?
The course mark is based on the exam: Fail: 0–55 per cent, Pass: 55–75 per cent, Pass With Merit: 75–85 per cent, Pass with Distinction: 85–100 per cent.

Courses are currently available in Helsinki, Finland. It is also possible to take the course online.
In which language is the WSET Level 2 course taught?
The study materials and exam are in English. Lessons are also conducted in English if there are international students in the group.
