The WSET qualification can also be taken as an online course. Language for the course in English. An online course may also be a suitable option for those who live further away from Helsinki or Tampere, or if their work allows them to taste a lot of wines or spirits.
WSET Level 1 and 2 courses can be done at home, including the multiple choice exam with remote invigilation. Check the system requirements from the bottom of this page. The Level 3 exam consists of a multiple choice test, a written test and a wine or spirit tasting test. Level 3 exam cannot be done on-line, but you must come to Helsinki or Tampere to do it.
Courses are organized by the London WSET School. The theoretical part is studied independently from the study materials and on the course website, where you can find additional material and weekly exercises with the guidance of the course instructor. You can study the online course at your own pace whenever you want. To receive feedback form exercises you need to return them on time. However these exercises do not affect the course result, only the exam determines if you pass the course.
WSET Level 1 Award in Wines Online course
The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines course is ideal for anyone interested in wine. You may be just starting to learn about wine or have been a wine enthusiast for some time. The exam consists of 30 multiple-choice questions and takes 45 minutes to answer.
The duration of the course is 4 weeks.
New courses start every other Monday. You need to sign-up at least one week before the course start date.

WSET Level 2 Award in Wines Online course
The second level WSET Level 2 Award in Wines course takes a deeper look at the different wine regions and the wines produced in them. There are no entry requirements and all wine enthusiasts and people working with wine are welcome to attend. The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions and takes 1 hour to answer.
The duration of the course is 5 weeks.
New courses start every other Monday. You need to sign-up at least two weeks before the course start date.

WSET Level 3 Award in Wines Online course
The third level of the WSET Level 3 Award in Wine course provides a deeper insight into winemaking, grape varieties and wine regions. You will learn to analyse the factors that influence the style, quality and price of wine. The entry requirement for this course is a WSET Level 2 wine course or another wine qualification. You should also join some of the classes held in Helsinki where we learn to evaluate the wines. The exam will also be organized at the same time with this course.
The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, four open questions and an assessment question on white and red wine. The exam lasts 2.5 hours.
The duration of the course is 9 weeks.

System requirements
Remote invigilation exam
The Level 1 and Level 2 Online course exam can also be taken at home on your own computer.
The date of the exam must be arranged with Wineserver at least three weeks before the exam. This is a multiple-choice test in English. The exam is remotely proctored and in addition to a computer and a stable internet connection, you will need a smartphone or tablet to record the exam via a downloadable application. 10 days before the exam, you will receive a System Check link to test the functionality of the system. This test should be done at least 7 days before the test.
