Classes take places in the evenings from 17 till 21 at the wine cellar in the center of Helsinki.
The exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions, four open questions, and an evaluation question for white and red wines. The exam lasts 2.5 hours.
The entry requirement for the course is WSET Level 2 Award in Wines or other previous wine studies or wine knowledge acquired from work.

The WSET Level 3 course consists of seven evenings of study, plus an exam.

The course is taught by Tomi Naarvala, a DipWSET wine educator and founder of Wineserver, who has several years’ experience in organising wine courses, tasting events and wine tours.
Is a WSET wine qualification useful in the job market?
Studying wine gives you a significant advantage in the job market; it demonstrates your level of knowledge and proves your motivation to learn about wine. The WSET Level 3 qualification is now a requirement for many jobs in the wine industry. WSET is the world’s largest and most respected provider of wine and spirits education. Over 100,000 students sit the exams each year in more than 75 different countries.
What is the final exam for the WSET Level 3 course like?
In the tasting task, you will write a wine evaluation for one white wine and one red wine. You do not need to identify the grape varieties or the origin of the wines. The tasting exam does not include sparkling or fortified wines.
The theory exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions. You have two hours to complete the theory exam. To pass the exam, you need to answer at least 55 per cent of the questions correctly in both sections.
What if I don’t pass the exam?
It is possible to retake the WSET Level 3 exam. If you passed one section and failed another, you only need to retake the section – theory or tasting – that you did not pass.
What other costs are involved in the qualification?
The course fee covers everything! VAT, study materials, the exam and the wines tasted during the course. The only possible additional cost is an exam resit.
How is the course mark calculated?
The course mark is based on the exam: Fail: 0–54 per cent, Pass: 55–69 per cent, Pass with Merit: 70–84 per cent, Pass with Distinction: 85–100 per cent. The exam consists of three parts: multiple-choice questions, open-ended theory questions, and a wine evaluation task; a minimum grade of ‘Pass’ must be achieved in all three.
Where can the WSET Level 3 wine course be taken?
Courses are currently available in Helsinki. It is also possible to take the course online. The course exam will be held in Helsinki.
In which language is the WSET Level 3 course taught?
The study materials and exam are in English. Lessons are also conducted in English if there are international students in the group.
How often WSET Level 3 Award in Wines course is organised?
We typically have one course in the autumn and one in the spring.
